In 1979, Gary Meier was at a crossroads in his life.  Following graduation from Oregon State University in 1972, he was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army, completed the Army Ranger and Airborne schools, served as an infantry platoon leader in Germany, company commander, and battalion and brigade staff officer.  In 1979, it was time to make a decision; after 7 1/2 years in the Army, should he remain in the Army for a career, or seek a new civilian career?  While seeking the counsel of professional friends and career advisors, Gary sought God's leading through prayer and Scripture.

A unique set of circumstances that Gary describes as "clearly God's plan" led Gary to Vancouver, Washington, to a supervisory role with Frito Lay, Inc., then of all things, to the world of financial services, as a representative for life and disability insurance, estate planning, and mutual fund investments with AAL, Aid Association for Lutherans, a Fraternal Benefit Society providing financial services to a territory of Lutheran people in Southwest Washington.  For the next 19 years, Gary built a reputation of trust and expertise that grew to a client base of 700 families and business owners.  While his focus initially was in the areas of life and disability insurance, annuities, and estate planning, 1987 saw AAL launching a family of mutual funds that catapulted Gary into a new area of growth and opportunity to serve his clients.  By 1999, Gary's work ethic and his clients' confidence led to his sales territory becoming the fourth largest base of AAL mutual fund assets under management in the United States, and first in the Pacific Northwest (see here).  Gary also became known as a "fraternal" leader among his clients and AAL members, inspiring and working with his AAL client members to complete many volunteer service projects in the community, ranging from building homes with Habitat for Humanity to raising funds and conducting "helping hands" projects to help people in need.

In 1999, God's plan led Gary to a vision of a new and broadened career track in financial services.  With an entrepreneurial spirit and an enthusiasm for advising his clients in the areas of financial planning and investment management, Gary joined with some dedicated financial professionals in SW Washington to practice more specifically in financial planning.  Gary began working professionally in late 2003 as Meier Financial (a DBA, doing business as Meier Financial) a registered trade name in Washington State, with the focus not being on one company's financial products, but, rather, a focus on financial advice and a search for financial solutions to meet client needs and objectives.  Our success comes in helping clients to achieve financial peace of mind, and enabling them to spend their time in pursuit of their interests, passions, and in support of their favorite charitable causes, missions and ministries.

Our goal is to affirm the core values we share with you, and extend these values and our financial experience into the retirement years of our clients and to the next generation.  Thank you for your interest in our business and in our success, as we strive to serve you well.
